On October 19th, 2023, New Orleans hosted the 11th edition of the Love Your City™ Awards, celebrating local impactful leaders building a more equitable and sustainable economy.

Funding raised from this event will support a Green Infrastructure development plan for the United Houma Nation Tribal administrative and headquarters building, where they will implement a hazard mitigation plan.

2023 Water Management Award Winner

Tchoup Industries

Tchoup Industries, a small local bag manufacturer, upcycles all materials for its products. They help to be a responsible steward of water infrastructure in New Orleans by installing rain barrels, cleaning out the city's catch basin to reduce flooding and support eradicating invasive species such as nutria, by using the animal's fur for bags. New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center

The Convention Center is a LEED-certified building, one of the highest green building standards. It recently completed one of the largest energy efficiency upgrades in the region with assistance from EnergySmart. Read more about their impact actions here.

Veggie Farmers’ Cooperative

Veggie Farmers’ Cooperative is an urban farm in New Orleans East that offers local food options each week at the Crescent City Farmers Market. They also offer local food through a weekly CSA box which supports their seven growers, plus other regional farmers. Their CSA program works with local farmers to fill a weekly box of produce for more than 50 people a week. Read more about their impact actions here.

2023 Zero Waste Award Winner

Rolling Refills

Rolling Refills provides a refillable service for everyday household items and home and body products like laundry detergent, soap, and lotion. They also provide additional zero-waste, plastic-free items to help support a more environmentally friendly home or business. Rolling Refills manages their waste by composting and recycling, and they actively prevent waste through their business model and educational efforts. Read more about their impact actions here.

LOOP NOLA

LOOP NOLA prioritizes outdoor adventure education for students in K-12. All of their programs incorporate social and emotional learning (SEL) to promote pro-social behaviors. Wakin’ Bakin’ is an all-around community partner that thinks holistically about every decision they make. From sponsoring blood drives, hosting community resource tents at Mardi Gras, creating bee pollinating gardens, buying reused products for all store decorations, donating food to local community fridges, or buying local food from the Veggie Farmer's Coop and Story Farms. The Split Second Foundation is committed to breaking physical, societal, and research barriers for people living with disabilities. Crazy Plant Bae is a three-generation family-owned plant business. It is collective of 15 local black women business owners that supply handmade and local products to their storefront.
