On October 6th, 2021, two Groundwork New Orleans Crew members were murdered, and two were grievously wounded in a mass shooting while working on a green infrastructure project at the New Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church. Derrick Copelin, 25, and Zernell Lee, 19, were talented, hard-working young men, growing into leaders in their chosen field of urban water management and construction.

The event is open to current mentors and volunteers who give their time, energy, and resources to Son of a Saint. The Son of a Saint Mentor + Volunteer Happy Hour will be held on the first Tuesday of each month. This event will allow mentors and volunteers to engage with one another as well as the staff.
