LCCI-logo_0Landrieu Concrete & Cement Industries delivers ready-mix concrete for commercial and residential projects, from foundations to driveways and more. They also provide pervious concrete, a new environmentally-friendly option that lets rain seep back into the ground helping reduce strain on our drainage system.

Renee Landrieu, owner of Landrieu Concrete and Cement Industries is one of 50 women honored this year in City Business‘ “Women of the Year” – she’ll be recognized at an awards luncheon next Friday.

Tell us a little bit about your company, and what’s on your plate right now both as a business and as a member of the sustainability conscious community.

My ready mix company began 21/2 years ago and has rapidly become one of the largest ready mix companies in the Greater New Orleans area. We are helping to provide living wage jobs to 30 full time employees and and are currently expanding our plant locations so that we are more strategic in our ability to deliver to the local marketplace. This will allow us to conserve fuel and time.

What are some of your proudest moments as owner of LCCI?

When employees tell me thank you for giving them a job.

How does your organization go about improving your social and environmental impacts?

By always choosing to “do the right thing” in everyday decisions regarding people and the environment.

What partnerships have you formed in order to leverage sustainable impact as a company?

We have become a member of LifeCity.

If you had a magic wand to change one thing that would make it easier for your company or other New Orleans businesses to go green, what would that thing be?

Encourage more pervious concrete!

What advice would you give to other businesses who are trying to improve their internal practices to benefit their city and state?

Pay employees wages that help them support their families and allows them to not depend on the government. Most people would rather be able to take care of themselves.

Anything else you would like to tell our community of Green Card members and Green Businesses such as upcoming events or promotions they should look out for?

We can pour their pervious concrete!!!!
