Meet EarthPrime Inc.
As a company, Earth Prime develops sustainable living technologies beginning with the iGardenX hydroponic garden. Our mission is to make life on earth as easy, fun, and beautiful as possible. The iGardenX was specifically designed to help individuals and businesses become more sustainable by giving anyone access to fresh food no matter what their restrictions or limitations.
People shouldn’t be limited to their access of fresh food just because they live in a city, are short on space, short on time, live in a drought prone area, or because they think they are lacking the skills to grown their own food. We make this possible with an easy to use, aesthetic, and resources saving solution.
Right now we just finished up New Orleans Entrepreneur week, where we were a featured business, and we are in the middle of performing our first custom installations and developing strategic partnerships with public interfacing businesses. We have started partnering with organizations and businesses that while giving us market exposure, we are able to help them become more sustainable.
What are some of your proudest moments?
I would say one of my proudest moments that happens again and again is to see someone get excited about what we are doing and why it is such an important an important problem we are solving.
Food is such a socially unifying thing. It brings people together. To see people get excited about how we are helping to build direct access to fresh food for anyone…that makes them part of our growing community.
How does your organization go about improving your social and environmental impacts?
Our company is based on helping others, both individuals and businesses, improve their social and environmental impact. We can help build communities through micro community gardens, teach students through edible school yards, help restaurants, hotels, and grocers be more sustainable by raising their own produce and minimizing waste. The basis of our business is making it easy and fun for people to help their social and environmental impacts.
What partnerships have you formed in order to leverage sustainable impact as a company?
We actually help other companies and individuals to leverage their own sustainable impact. By making the partnerships we have made with food services businesses or educational centers, we have been able to help them become more sustainable in their practices. For example, one of our partnerships is with a business that has a substantial food service component and also does a lot of event business. By implementing our products they are able to do a number of things. They are able to lower their own food cost and food waste as a business since they have taken produce production back in their own hands. By growing their own food they are able to control what goes into it, how much and when they want to use it, and they do this all taking up less space, using less water, and with less labor. Additionally we allow them to do this in either underutilized space that is not giving them any return, or they are able to beautify their own public spaces for their guests while still lowering their environmental impact.
If you had a magic wand to change one thing that would make it easier for your company or other New Orleans businesses to go green, what would that thing be?
New Orleans already does an amazing job at fostering entrepreneurism. Between events like NOEW and incubators like Idea Village, Propellor, and New Orleans BioInovation center, its a great environment to be an entrepreneur. The one thing I would change would be to find a way to put a bigger investor spotlight on green companies. I think by having that it would make it very attractive for new companies to have a green foundation from the beginning and hopefully other established companies would see the merits of going green.
What advice would you give to other businesses who are trying to improve their internal practices to benefit their city and state?
Best advice I could give it to find a problem then find a creative way to solve it. Thats what we did. We found a way for people to lower their environmental impact, build a social community, and increase overall access to fresh food, and we do so by making it as easy as possible.
