Liberty's Kitchen has made a business out of serving up great food while supporting the youth of New Orleans. Food is a source of community, expression, and excitement here in New Orleans. Liberty's Kitchen has found a way to engage the youth of the City in our rich cultural food traditions through their Healthy School Lunch Program and their Youth Development program. As the Green Games heads into its third year, learn about how Liberty's Kitchen is making an impact and mixing things up... Liberty’s Kitchen is a social enterprise dedicated to transforming the lives of disconnected New Orleans youth by providing a path to self-sufficiency through food service-based training, leadership, and employment programs. Our Café, catering business, and Healthy School Lunch Program serve as the training vehicles for our Youth Development Program. We also recycle, use to-go ware made with recycled and post-consumer content, compost, and use local seafood. Visit us for Starbucks coffee products, lunch, and meals to-go to support our mission or cater business meetings, parties, and special events with Liberty’s Kitchen. Liberty’s Kitchen will move to the ReFresh Project in 2014 with expanded facilities, programming, and operations. The ReFresh Project is an innovative community economic development project delivering fresh, healthy and affordable food to underserved communities and anchoring development on Broad Street in New Orleans. Our expansion will allow us to increase the number of at-risk youth we serve and also the number of nutritious meals we provide the community.
