Some businesses are naturally greener than others. EcoUrban is one of those businesses. But that doesn’t stop them from creatively pursuing a higher level of sustainability in each step. They even use empty water bottles to insulate their office! We thank EcoUrban for all of the work they do to care for our local ecosystem and create a culture of sustainability. Demetria Christo and Travis Cleaver of EcoUrban talk about their green pursuit in anticipation of this year’s Green Games:
“EcoUrban is the only local full-service landscaping company specializing in sustainable products and eco-friendly practices.
From native, edible and climate-appropriate plants, to decks, pervious patios and LED lighting, to cisterns and rainwater irrigation, we install and maintain high-end, quality landscapes while cultivating a greener New Orleans and a more sustainable planet.
We’re proud to be a part of the LifeCity community.
LifeCity honored EcoUrban with the Greenest Office award two years ago at the Green Games, and we’re excited to compete again this year. We started out green but, like everyone, have room to be even greener.
Towards this goal, LifeCity has connected us to various vendors and opportunities. They help us quantify our eco-successes such as waste reduction and encourage us to further sustainable education.
Last week, for example, we installed a 100% native-plant Diversity Garden with the students at Ben Franklin High School. With soil donated from the United Houma Nation, teacher and alumni input, and a great turnout of enthusiastic students, the Diversity Garden is now a great place for our youth to connect with their natural Louisiana heritage. We look forward to growing with our family of allies at LifeCity.”
