Frederick Douglass Garden: Open Garden Day July 14th, 2012 10am-3pm Location: 3820 North Rampart Street, New Orleans, LA 70117 The Frederick Douglass Garden is the outdoor educational space for the HEAL Project. It grows a variety of herbs, ornamental cut flowers, vegetable plants, and fruit trees. The Frederick Douglass garden was developed on a 1500 square foot plot of land, previously covered with granite rocks. Feel free to walk through and enjoy the garden. Thursday, July 19, 2012 at 6:30pm Location: The Green Project – Marais Street, New Orleans, LA 70117 The ground-breaking documentary exposing the dark underbelly of industrial farm system. Hollygrove Market & Farm will be co-sponsoring the event with the Green Project and will be providing fresh fruit and light refreshments. Doors open at 6:30pm, movie starts at 7pm. After the movie, we’ll stay around and open up a discussion on the topic for those who are interested. Tsai Anniversary Dinner July 29, 2012 5:00-9:00pm Tsai is celebrating our 1 year anniversary! We will be hosting a special dinner at Rio Mar, Sunday, August 29th. Boating in City Park Thursday-Sunday 10am-5pm First come first serve; no reservations $15 per boat per hour There are few more enjoyable ways to enjoy a great urban park like New Orleans City Park than lazily floating along, keeping company with ducks, geese and swans for a half-hour of pedaling. The boats are available on a first come first serve basis. Pedal boats seat 4; Row boats seat 3. No reservations are taken. You must present a valid driver’s license or state ID and be a minimum of 17 years old to rent a boat. Life preservers must be worn at all times. The pedal boat dock is located at Big Lake off Friedrichs Avenue. For information, call (504)483-9375 Bikes in City Park 10:00 AM – 05:00 PM Joy Ride Bike Rentals, a locally owned company, is joining forces with City Park to bring guests the option of bicycling throughout the park. Bikes are available for rental during the same operating hours as our Pedalboats and Rowboats, with bikes availalble for children or adults, and baby trailers are also availalbe for those too small to ride on their own.
