Energy Efficiency Financing: how to pay for longer term energy efficiency investments
May 30, 2018 @ 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm
Large Buildings Compete to Track and Save Energy!
Plus FREE Energy Management Training
Buildings in the U.S. consume approximately 40 percent of the country’s energy, and on average 30 percent of the energy used in commercial buildings is wasted. The City of New Orleans began benchmarking (i.e., measuring and tracking) its municipal building portfolio in 2015, working toward the Climate Action goal to reduce energy use in municipal operations by 15 percent by 2020.
In early 2018, the Office of Resilience and Sustainability launched the Downtown NOLA Energy Challenge, a competition for buildings to monitor and reduce their energy use. This program, in partnership with the Downtown Development District and the City Energy Project, will help buildings of any type or size in the downtown area gain a better understanding of how to benchmark energy data and plan for cost-saving energy efficiency upgrades. Technical support and free training are provided to participating buildings, and prizes will be awarded to sustainability leaders in various categories.
So if you live or work in the downtown area, why not ask your property manager to sign up for the Downtown NOLA Energy Challenge today? For more information and the online registration link, go to nola.gov/EnergyChallenge. There is no fee to participate.
In addition, free training is offered to anyone (regardless of location) interested in learning about how to effectively use energy management strategies to achieve energy savings in large buildings. See below for the upcoming schedule, with all times 12:00pm – 1:30pm (lunch included). Locations to be announced. To reserve your seat, RSVP email@example.com
